A Night on the Town of Newport News, Virginia

My first day visiting Virginia to see my lovely friend, she took me to this amazing restaurant in Hampton Roads for dinner, called Circa 1918 Kitchen & Bar. Fun fact: My great-grandmother was born in 1918. As we entered the quaint establishment, the staff welcomed us with warm-subtle smiles and the lights were dimmed low as if we had just stepped foot into a noir film. We sat at a table next to the window and the bartender made special cocktails for us. We shared an appetizer and two entrees, which were delicious. I had so much fun at this little gem so here is all you need to know about this neighborhood favorite.

Circa 1918 Kitchen & Bar

Located in the Tidewater area in the Historic Hilton Village, Circa 1918 is an American Restaurant; perfect for casual dining for date night, celebrations, and to simply step out on the town.

Menu items include, fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and corn rellish, Sea Scallops with white truffle oil, Ribeye Steak, a delicious Lamb Burger with candied bacon, meatloaf, duck breast, and many more robust flavored dishes. With a diverse menu, I can guarantee the meat lovers, vegetarians, pescatarians, and even the vegans of the crew will have their desires and needs met with an array of delectable foods to choose from.

I was so impressed with the burst of flavors, the tenderness of the salmon, the flakiness of the crab cakes and the literal lumps of crab meat to cake ratio. By the way, their sauces are unmatched!

What I ordered

Pan Roasted Jumbo Lump Crab cake

with fresh sauté of spring vegetables and peppadew tarter

Crispy Salmon

with foie gras green pea risotto, cream of coconut milk, and micro greens

For cocktails, I recommend the:

Dragonfly (Berry Rum, Basil and Strawberry);

Warwick Street Car (Metaxa, Mango and Cointreu)

In the mood for a cold brewski? I highly recommend the Allagash White.

They have a great collection of white and red wines from all around the world by the glass or bottle. I recommend the Grenache Blend from Priorat, Spain for a smooth-medium body.

Check them out on TripAdvisor and Facebook.

If you are visiting, new to the Newport News area, or a resident and just have been too busy to get out for an evening to wine & dine yourself then what are you waiting for? 10/10 recommend
